Chris Harrington, DJ/Producer

Sir Harrington, why do some of us call you that?
Hahaha that’s the first I have ever heard of that so I’m not sure. Sounds a bit too formal for me though!

So you’re English but live in B.C. Canada, what brought you over here?
Well it’s a long story but basically when I was younger my Dad was offered two Jobs, one in the States and one in Canada. He checked both of them out and felt that God was leading him to Canada so we moved just outside of Vancouver in Canada and I have been living here ever since.

So what do you do when you’re not DJing?
Usually I’m out with my Girlfriend and hanging out with friends. If I’m not doing that I’m playing PS3 or Wii. I love video games haha

(Continued on full article page..)

Cool, so you’re making a regular mix show podcast right, what’s it called?
Yeap! It’s called The Uncovered Podcast and it’s associated with the events I run up in BC which also run under the Uncovered name.

How often, what intervals will we be able to expect new shows?
Well to be honest with you I’m not totally 100% sure about that myself yet. I think there will probably be one or two a month. If that’s the case then they will be released sometime around the 1st and 15th of each month.

What kind of music should we expect from you and your guest mixes?
Well from me you can expect a lot of banging Electro and Funky House with a few mainstream remixes thrown in for good measure. As for the guest mixes I’m open to anything within the House, Electro, Techno and Trance genres so it will probably be different from podcast to podcast.

You’re planning on giving info on your upcoming Uncovered shows on the podcast right?
Of course. One of the main reasons I started the podcast up is to give info about upcoming shows.

Will you be giving info on any other shows that are in your area, like maybe the Pacific Northwest Groove Fellowship?
Yeap! If one of the Uncovered resident DJ’s is playing a show in the area then we will be plugging it on the show for sure.

Can DJs submit guest mixes to you for the podcast?
Yeap, all you need to do is submit a demo mix to uncovered@djchrisharrington.com Producers that want their tracks on the podcast can also send promos to that email address as well.

Is it true you’ve felt awkward about your own voice at your shows and on recordings, and have you got over it now?
I HATE microphones with a passion so the answer to that is yes. I’m still very shy on the mic. Some of you might have noticed during my old radio show and the new podcast that I barely talked on the mic and at Uncovered I refused to use a mic at all, choosing to just yell instead. That actually resulted in me not having a voice for about a week haha.

Haha, I think you’ve got the perfect DJ voice, doesn’t that count for something?
Hahaha indeed it does! Thanks a lot!

Don’t you also produce your own tracks; what kind?
Well I have given it a few shots before. I prefer to work on collabs with other producers that way we have two people’s idea’s going into one track which in my opinion makes a better track.

Do you have anything coming out soon, and what label will it be on?
There is something in the works with Deeplife Records at the moment. I have an unfinished track I’m working on with a friend Robert Janzen that Deeplife have showed a lot of interest in. It looks like that will be released sometime in the next few months I hope. Fingers crossed!

Did you, or do you still, get nervous when you are DJing In front of big crowds?
I get nervous in front of every crowd! I hate it but as soon as I get in front of the decks it all goes away and I go nuts on stage haha. Its great!

What has been your fave show in your career so far?
Well I have two. The first one was the First Uncovered show because it was the very first show I had organized by myself and I had a ton of fun on stage. The second was at a summer camp I played at called Qwanoes. I was set up on the roof of a building with lights all around me with 500 kids below me going absolutely crazy and everyone of them had a glowsitck! It was crazy to see!

If you could tour with any DJs in the world, who would they be?
There’s a lot to choose from but I will limit myself to five haha (yes I know that’s still a lot!). Cedric Gervais and Axwell since both of their tracks and DJ sets have helped me craft my own style, Andy Hunter since he introduced me to DJing, Eric Prydz cause he is like my hero and one of my fave DJ’s at the moment and Deadmau5 because he looks like he would be fun to hang out with haha.

Would you like to give me a guest mix for when I start the TechnoChristian podcast?
Absolutely I would! I love doing guest mixes!

When did you find out that TechnoChristian has forums?
I knew this was going to come up…. Today haha.

Hahaha, that’s amazing, because we’ve had forums for years.  Did you think I was gonna let you get away without embarrassing you in this interview, lol?
I had hoped I would get away with it but I guess not haha.

To your credit, you immediately signed up and posted on TechnoChristian when you heard about it.  Will you be in there from time to time to update us on the state of the podcast, and/or just chill there with us?
Of course. I love forums because there a great way to connect with other clubbers and DJ’s as well as promote yourself to the DJ/Club world. So I will defiantly be back checking stuff out every so often.

How do you feel about me putting your podcast into the TechnoChristian side-bar, and maybe the upcoming TechnoChristian music/podcasts section?
Sounds great. TechnoChristian is a great site with great ideas. I’m always up for supporting the site.

When should we expect the next episode of the podcast?
Probably around the 15th of March. I have a good friend of mine, Christopher Carl, providing a guest mix for it. I’m really looking forward to having him on the show.

How can people find more information about you and the things you do, do you have web sites?
I have 4 different site’s for people to use to keep up to date with what is happening.

www.djchrisharrington.com is my website.

www.myspace.com/chrisharrington2 is my MySpace.

www.uncovered.mypodcast.com is my podcast’s website.

www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=52549369826&ref=mf is my facebook group.
