Hey guys,

I\'m working on this electro-breaks-ish remix of Andy Hunter\'s \"Out of Control\" track. I\'m really excited about how it\'s coming along, but I don\'t want to simply rely on my own ears and taste. I\'m looking for any constructive feedback and ideas.

The arrangement isn\'t entirely finished, but it\'s getting there. I\'ll probably add a lot of time-shift effects after I get the arrangement done.

It\'s fairly mastered in itself as I\'ve done a bit of that legwork already through my mixing, but I\'ll likely make a few changes here and there and make it really shine.

Thanks a lot guys, here\'s the download for the work in progress: http://www.mediafire.com/?in2wmmznzmm

Calling all Techheads, DJ\'s, Remixers, Mashers, and Musicians to add your personal spin to these songs.

Hello to my fellow tech-heads in TechnoChristian.com! My name is Todd Berger of Enter the Worship Circle\'s experimental electronica worship series-- Village Thrift. As you can see, I couldn\'t figure out how to shrink the above graphic, so it will be GARGANTUAN to possibly get more of your attention and to tease you about the following:

Every week for the next 10 weeks, I will be releasing 2 Village Thrift songs as FREE downloads in the worship circle store. These songs are all in the early formative stages called 8 packs-- the basic building blocks (LOOPS) of Village Thrifts songs containing some instrumentation, final vocals, and some rhythm and ambiance. What they need to evolve to their possible inclusion on the next Village Thrift recording is your collaboration!

Go get the goods and start cranking out your own version of these previously unreleased Village Thrift worship songs. Then resubmit* your versions back to us. Those songs that make the cut will be included in the next release of Village Thrift: Circa 2008. now GO!

For you skeptical fellows who would say, who in the world is this? You can visit the following link to a podcast interview I just did that explains things further here

c-ya!

I guess I just realized whats been possible all this time.

As an electronic music producer we're into dealing with technologies like MIDI and plugins. Who ever would have thought that you could use MIDI to connect a friend into your sequencer software?!

So its happened. This particular free program(MidiViaNet) that makes this possible has been around since 1998 all this time. It simply allows you to choose an input midi device and an output midi device (the input goes to your friend, and the output comes from your friend to you). Then you fire up your favorite midi enabled software and go!

I just got done spending a few hours playing along with Transflow in Australia who had my sequencer starting and stopping and changing tempo and playing beats and melodies... oh man, way too much fun!

You can find this sort of technology popping up all over now. A search for network midi will most likely get you tons of results. I think Apple's Mac OSX Tiger now has an update that gives you built-in network capable MIDI drivers.

Now you might get this on your PC and have some trouble getting it to work properly, so here's some suggestions to try..

Get MIDI-Yoke and MIDI-Ox to re-route or "re-wire" any midi inputs and outputs to exactly how you want them to be. This way you won't have trouble with creating midi feedback loops or getting those "midi device is already in use" errors.

You may or may not have trouble getting this to work with your buddy over the internet on first try, so here's a tip or two for that department:

1) Try changing the port on each end for yourself and for your friend. I used the default (4000) which didn't work, but 8000 works fine for us.
2) Try using a VPN. You can create "Virtual Private Networks" in windows, but I haven't tried it this way. The simplest way I know is to download a free program called Hamachi. Its owned by LogMeIn which is a reputable network solutions company. They can have you setting up a simple Hamachi VPN in minutes and you'll both be totally connected to each other with no trouble.

Have you made any progress with the track as far as making it pretty much finished in your opinion? I am considering coming back into the music scene pretty soon and this would be a fun one to do as a new track coming back. If you haven't got vocals yet, I'll do something for ya ...or maybe dr.mixx will. Have any vocal ideas or wording ideas?

Hey,

CosyPete and I have been starting something we're calling the Open Source Worship project which will be based around sharing and collaborating on electronic forms of worship music and art. If you'd like more info there's a site CosyPete has set up on myspace, but I guess he hasn't really got much there yet.. OSW Myspace Site.

Also his own myspace site is at Cosy Pete Myspace Site.

The under-developed offical OSW site is here. I'll be getting around to doing more on here as needed or as I find the time to do so.

AWESOME TRACK!! I'm listening to it right now for the first time.

I think I like it all the way around. I'll give it a few more listens throughout the day though and hear it with headphones and with other speakers.

I would definintely want to remix this one. I will try and come up with some kind of vocals for it too. I'll let you know if that happens.
