I just heard right from the horse’s mouth that CNET’s Music Download.com sister site Last.fm is taking over Download.com’s Music section entirely and along with this change comes some great benefits for indie and signed artists on Last.fm. One of these benefits is royalties paid to the artist when their music is streamed through the site!

At long last! A benefit that has gone missing for years since Download.com bought and destroyed the spirit of mp3.com! They completely removed the old mp3.com site when they bought it, making so many indie artists to look elsewhere for streaming profits. So far I haven’t discovered much of anything comparable to the original mp3.com’s royalty program, until now. I’m going to go get signed up for my own SIGNED music this week! I can do that since my contract allows me to make money where the label doesn’t ;).

So if you’re looking to make a little cash and you have some decent tunes, think about signing up as an artist on Last.fm. If it’s anything like the old mp3.com, there could be quite a bit of profit potential for us! It’s exciting indeed, maybe the small-time musician’s tide is finally turning again.

Maybe TechnoChristian.com should have a similar service to Last.fm for finding similar songs/artists but that are techno and christian? Or maybe we could offer links to known christian techno artists on Last.fm…maybe a full directory of them? What you think? Let’s hear it in the comments - or in our handy forums.
