Now that I have a nice web site for technochristian.com I am thinking about what I can do for it. I have thought about starting an internet radio station that plays mainly just great christian techno music. I have an extensive collection already and I think I am a pretty good personality for radio. I have all of the set up I need technically to be able to do it, and I even have a rebroadcast shoutcast server subscription for 4 months free. I would just like to get a little bit of feedback if possible so I am going to open up the comments to everyone (even non-registered users) so as to see what I can get out of people. I know that traditionally an internet radio station would be required to have at least one major music label’s rebroadcast license in order to cover the occasional copyrights that would otherwise be infringed if they played their artists music. I don’t know if this is quite necessary in this case because the music I’m going to play is mostly on indie christian labels or just copyrighted to the artists themselves. I know that some of the artists occasionally will remix a commercial track which maybe then this would be appliccable, but how can we be sure? I know I could spend months or years digging into this legal mumbo jumbo, but I know that there are other radio DJs playing stuff like that …maybe they’re just taking their chances I don’t know. What I do know is that for most of the songs and artists, I could probably assume that they would like having their music played on my station for exposure and marketing reasons. I know I would love it if my tracks were played all over…even though I don’t sell any yet, but all the better if I did. I guess what I might do is just go ahead and try it out just doing a show every few days or once a day just at a certain time of evening or something. Then I’d post up on here the times for each show and have a link for you all to tune in. If it works then it works, and if not, well then I didn’t play it all too much..just a little bit. I’m not trying just to justify what I’m considering doing, …its likely permissable anyway…just not necessarily by this government’s laws or regulations. I think what I’d like to do is see how well the station is received and the kind of feedback it gets and then if it does well then I’ll consider getting all set to make it a full blown radio station with 24-7 content and varieties in shows and what-not. At that point I owuld definitely look at all of the necessary legal obligations. So what do you think? Should I test this radio idea and start a weekly/bi-weekly/daily christian techno show with great music played each time you listen? TELL ME WHAT U THINK. I’d much appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
I think you should do it. theblend needs a new home.
Well, I’ve got a shoutcast re-broadcasting server up now. I currently have the ability to do 16 simultaneous listeners at 64k each. I can discuss expanding it with my shoutcast host. I believe the understanding was that I could expand it to at least twice as much before I had to pay for more. I’ll post more on this in the forums.
Hey Great job on the new Techno Christian Radio Site!!!! Waaahoooo!!!!!! Ya’ll need to listen to this! Booyah! heh heh
